Proven Lead Generation Ideas

I do not know about you, but when it comes to finding lead generation solutions for my various companies, I hate theory.

Words are cheap and ideas are ten a penny. Armchair experts abound.

I need proven, predictable, take-it-to-the-bank and show-me-the-money techniques that are easy to apply and that work in the real world.

With that in mind, let me tell you a true story…

This morning I went to a new cafe in town and ordered a coffee.

Whilst I was waiting to order, I noticed that the cafe was in an ideal location in a busy shopping center and that it probably attracted a lot of small to medium business owners (my target market).

I asked the owner if I could speak with him for 5 minutes as I had an idea that could build his business network.

I shared that I was a marketing expert and that I owned the Master Rights to several valuable marketing action guides, reports, books and audio presentations and suggested he start collecting people's business details in return for the opportunity to enter a monthly draw to win a marketing package worth $597 that I would provide.

I explained how we could both emerge winners out of such a situation.

He could create a newsletter to tell his clients about special offers and I would be able to follow up and offer the business owners a subscription to my own newsletter.

All we needed was to get some simple forms printed along with a box for people to pop their entry form into.

He loved the idea

I will be dropping off a copy of this first months prize (a 180 page action guide that explains how to create great headlines) later this week.

Next month, we will offer a cd set or a 12 month subscription to one of my membership websites (with a follow up to everyone that missed out, offering them a 3 month trial membership!).

Is this a cost-effective lead generation technique?

  • The manual will cost me $20 to get printed and bound
  • Suppose I get one new client per month at say $7,000 a time, that will add $84,000 a year to my income.
  • I am being conservative most of my clients are worth 3 times that amount.
  • NOTE: There are LOTS of cafes in my city. I do not need to limit myself to just one!

My good friend, Joel Christopher, has written an excellent book called 'Mining Online Gold With An Off-line Shovel' You should get it. Read it. Do what it says.

The above is a great example of going off line to generate leads for an online business. I am sure you will agree that it is easy to understand.
