The vital ingredient most web designers either don't understand or are too lazy to show you
Glorified typesetters.
Sorry but the average web designer is just a glorified typesetter. A twerp. A barnicle on the keel of humanity.
Sure, they can create fancy logo's by the bucket load and lets not forget the flash headers (Utterly useless appendages that belong to the 1990's) but when it comes to actually SHOWING people what to do with their new websites - how to get traffic to their sites - - well, frankly, they suck.
Now before irate web designers the world over start sending me hate mail and burning me in effigy, stop and think for a moment… when was the last time you heard of a web designer that includes a web marketing service that works? (And I don't mean blatant con's like "Oh for an extra few hundred dollars we'll submit your new website to half a gazillion 'search engines' so you can get traffic"
Actually, I already know whey most of them don't.
They don't know how to. I have been building sites for people for several years now and one thing it has taught me is that most web designers are useless when it comes to marketing.
I could rant on but I'll leave you with this thought: So you have a website? big deal! what next?
